This was a project brief that threw me for a loop. We were able to conduct an exit interview with anyone or anything, so long as it was centered around something ending. I was struggling to think of a concept initially, so I decided to take the opportunity to explore the fact that I’m wrapping up the last 18 years of schooling and am wildly afraid of the future <3
I knew that I wanted the illustration to feel sort of surreal, but I also wanted it to convey a certain sense of nostalgia. I referenced various cartoons and comics that all came together for me in an illustration style and a color palette that is very reminiscent of a childlike dream state of mind. Whether it’s a good dream or a nightmare, I am unsure.
